Magnet Care: Make Your Magnet Last for Years

Real magnet fishing magnets are made from neodymium: one of the strongest magnetic materials in the world. It gives you incredible pull power… but it’s also naturally fragile. With the right care, your magnet will last a very long time. Here’s how to keep it in top shape.

Real magnet fishing magnets are made of neodymium, the same powerful material used in all our 360° fishing magnets.

Handle With Care (Neodymium Is Strong… but Brittle!)

Neodymium magnets are crazy strong, but the material can chip if it hits hard surfaces.
To protect your magnet:

• Don’t slam it against concrete walls, metal edges, or bridge foundations

• Avoid hitting rocks or boulders underwater

• Don’t smash it on the ground 

A little care goes a long way, especially with 360° magnets that pull from every angle.

Rinse After Every Magnet Fishing Trip

After your session, your magnet will be covered in mud, silt, sand, or rust.
Make sure to:

1. Rinse your magnet with fresh water

2. Remove mud and debris from the protective cover

3. Let it air-dry completely before storing it

If you’ve been magnet fishing in salt water, rinsing is extra important to keep your magnet looking great.

Chipping Is Normal, It Won’t Affect Strength

Even with good care, some chipping is completely normal for neodymium magnets.

Every Bondi Magnet comes with a golden protective cover already assembled.
This helps prevent major damage, but no cover can stop chipping 100%.

The good news?
Small chips don’t reduce the magnet’s power at all.
Your magnet will still perform exactly the same.
