What makes these fishing magnets different

Every magnet in this collection was developed by Bondi Treasure Hunter for one job: pulling metal out of real water. They are purpose-built recovery tools, not general-purpose magnets with a new label, and they are built to keep working after years of mud, salt and impact.

Each one uses an industrial-grade neodymium core in a machined casing, magnetic across all 360 degrees rather than on one or two faces. That means the magnet grabs from whatever angle it lands at, which is the single biggest factor in how much you bring up per session.

Which fishing magnet should you choose

All four pull hard. The right one depends on where you fish and how much weight you want to wrestle with, not simply on the biggest number.

  • The Nugget, 760 kg combined pull. Compact and easy to throw and retrieve, and forgiving when it snags. The one to start with if you have never done this before.
  • The Jackpot, 1080 kg. Our most popular magnet and a sensible middle ground: enough power for serious finds, still controllable in unfamiliar water.
  • The Bondi Gold, 1460 kg. The best all-rounder in the range and the magnet Bondi fishes with himself. Deep canals and heavy targets without becoming unmanageable.
  • The Holy Moly, 1800 kg. The most extreme magnet we make, for experienced fishers who already know how to free a stuck magnet.

Stronger is not automatically better. Heavy magnets lock onto sheet piling, bridge structures and scrap you never wanted, and freeing them costs time and sometimes rope. In water you do not know, start smaller and work up. Our guide to choosing a magnet walks through the whole range in detail.

Why 360 degree magnetic power

Single and double sided magnets attract from one or two surfaces only. Dragged along a river bed, they catch just what happens to meet that face, and everything else is missed. A 360 degree magnet applies force across its entire body, so orientation stops mattering.

The practical result is more contact with metal, fewer wasted casts and a noticeably higher success rate in cluttered water. It is the same design Bondi uses on every trip. If you want the full comparison, including why cheap double sided magnets disappoint, read 360 versus single and double sided magnets.

Designed through real-world testing

Bondi spent years in rivers, lakes, harbours and every canal in Amsterdam testing the magnets that were already on the market. Most did not meet his standards, so he started building his own.

Shape, casing, magnetic core and eyelet placement have all been changed in response to what actually failed during retrievals. That is why the range looks the way it does, and it is why every magnet is tested by Bondi before it reaches the shop.

Built to catch real treasure

Every component is chosen for hard use in unforgiving conditions:

  • Industrial-grade neodymium magnetic core
  • Precision-cut casing that resists impact damage and corrosion
  • Secure, balanced anchor point for reliable rope attachment
  • Compact body that fits tight spots and still lifts heavy

They work in fresh water and salt, off docks, bridges, riverbanks and canal sides. Rinse the magnet with fresh water after a session in salt and it will keep its pull for years.

New to magnet fishing?

A magnet on its own is not enough. You also need a rope rated for the pull, a grappling hook for anything heavy that breaks the surface, gloves and a bucket. Our complete magnet fishing kits bundle all of it and work out cheaper than buying the pieces separately.

Worth reading before your first throw: what magnet fishing actually involves, our guide to the best places to go, and whether you need a permit where you live, which varies more than most people expect.

Common questions

What does combined pull mean?

Direct pull is the force on one face, measured straight on against a flat steel plate. Combined pull adds up the force across all magnetic sides. Because our magnets pull on every side, combined pull is the more useful figure for comparing them against each other. Neither number is what you will lift out of mud, where suction, angle and grip all work against you.

Is the strongest magnet the best one to buy?

Usually not. Above about 1460 kg you spend more time freeing the magnet from things you did not want. Most people are better served by the Jackpot or the Bondi Gold.

Do I need a permit to magnet fish?

In most countries there is no general permit for magnet fishing itself, but it depends on who controls the water, and several European countries are stricter than the hobby's reputation suggests. Check our country by country guide before you go.

Can I use these in salt water?

Yes. Rinse the magnet and carabiners with fresh water afterwards, or salt will corrode them over time.
