A magnet on its own is not a magnet fishing setup. This collection is everything that goes around it: the rope that has to be rated for the pull, the hook for what the magnet cannot hold above water, somewhere to put wet scrap, gloves so you can handle any of it, and a replacement cover when yours has taken enough hits.

Rope: the one thing you cannot skimp on

The stronger the magnet, the stronger the rope needs to be. Our heavy duty rope is double-braided polyester, non-elastic, water-repellent, reinforced at the loops with a protective sleeve, and it comes with two stainless steel carabiners so you can clip one end to the magnet and the other to a bridge or a tree.

Use the 8 mm with the Nugget, the Jackpot, the grappling hook and the bucket. Use the 10 mm with the Bondi Gold and the Holy Moly. If you plan to upgrade your magnet later, buy the 10 mm now. Both come in 20 m, and in limited edition gold and pink alongside the standard finish.

Grappling hooks

The moment a find breaks the surface, gravity stops helping. Bikes and mopeds slide off a magnet exactly when you have got them up. A three-pointed grappling hook fixes that: hook the find, then hoist. The L is 19 cm, the XL is 25 cm for deeper water and bigger objects, and both clip onto any Bondi rope.

Bucket and gloves

The extra tough XL bucket carries your rope and magnet out, holds what you drag up, and lets you rinse the mud off the footpath afterwards. It will not split under a load of scrap. The waterproof gloves give you grip on wet rope and keep rust and sharp edges away from your hands. One size fits all.

Magnet covers

Every Bondi magnet ships with a golden cover. It is machined to 1 mm, thin enough not to affect pull force and thick enough to stop the corners breaking, which is how most fishing magnets die. Replacements are sold here for the Nugget, Jackpot, Bondi Gold and El Dorado.
