Magnet fishing, safety

Magnet fishing is such a great hobby but it’s always important to remember safety comes first. Here are some tips for magnet fishing safely:

  • Wear gloves and eye protection at all times.
  • Be careful not to lift heavy objects, as you could injure yourself.
  • Be aware of your surroundings, such as boats and other people, and avoid magnet fishing during busy times.
  • If you find something dangerous, such as a weapon or explosive, do not touch it. Instead, call the police or fire department.
  • Only hold the magnet by the rope, never with your hands.
  • Be aware of nearby metal objects, including other magnets, to avoid injuries.
  • Never use fishing magnets indoors.
  • Always store your magnet in a protective cover when not in use.
  • Do not tie the rope around or attach it to your body when magnet fishing.
  • Make a plan in case of falling in the water.
  • Consult with a doctor regarding any medical issues and keep magnets away from medical devices such as pacemakers.
  • Leave areas as clean as you find them. Take a bucket to wash the mud off footpaths and keep larger trash in a neat pile and dispose of small trash.
