Magnet Covers

@BONDITREASUREHUNTER@BONDITREASUREHUNTER

Replacement golden covers for every Bondi fishing magnet. Machined to 1mm, thin enough not to affect pull force, thick enough to stop the corners breaking, which is how most fishing magnets die.

Every Bondi magnet arrives wearing a golden cover. These are the replacements, for when yours has taken enough hits to look its age.

What the cover actually does

It is not decoration. Broken corners are the single most common way a fishing magnet dies. The magnet gets thrown off a bridge, lands on concrete, gets dragged across rock and gravel, and the neodymium core chips at the edges. Once a corner goes, the damage spreads.

The Bondi cover is machined to 1 mm. That number matters in both directions: thin enough that the magnetic pull force is not measurably reduced, thick enough to absorb the impacts that would otherwise break the magnet itself. It is the cheapest insurance available on a piece of gear that costs a lot more than the cover does.

Which cover fits which magnet

Covers are machined to each magnet body, so they are not interchangeable. Choose the one matching your magnet:

  • Nugget cover: for the 760 kg Nugget, 57 x 47 mm body.
  • Jackpot cover: for the 1080 kg Jackpot.
  • Bondi Gold cover: for the 1460 kg Bondi Gold, 82 x 52 mm body.
  • El Dorado cover: for the El Dorado.

When to replace it

A cover that is scratched and scuffed is doing its job and does not need changing. Replace it when the metal has started to deform, when a corner has opened up, or when it no longer sits flush against the magnet body. At that point it has stopped protecting the corners and started trapping grit against them.

If you have not bought a magnet yet, you do not need to order a cover separately; one is included free with every Bondi magnet and every kit.
